GFNY Cannes starts on Boulevard du Midi, right along the seafront, tracing the beautiful beaches of Cannes La Bocca. You quickly leave the coastline behind and head into the wild and unspoiled beauty of the hinterland.
After a few flat kilometers to warm up, the first real challenge begins: the Tanneron climb, 7.6 km long with an average gradient of 5%, featuring sections above 10%, on a narrow road typical of the Estérel massif.
At Lake Saint-Cassien, the courses split. Riders on the long course embark on a spectacular loop through the Haut-Var, passing through charming Provençal villages and stunning natural landscapes—hard to believe you are still so close to Cannes.
After Montauroux, the race steps up with the two-part ascent of Col d’Avaye, including a detour to Mons. On these narrow and sometimes steep roads, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views over the rugged and sunlit terrain of the Var. This demanding section is one of the highlights of the course.
The routes then rejoin as you head back toward Tanneron before descending gradually toward the coast.
Back in Cannes, celebrate your achievement with your finisher medal, post-race meal, music, and awards ceremony on the new Jetée Saint-Apollinaire—a unique seaside setting to relax and enjoy the end of a memorable day.
LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.
