The GFNY Cannes camp has two objectives:
1) Kick off your cycling season by offering hilly and flat cycling in pleasant spring temperatures  and
2) Get you prepared for the race- mentally and physically.

GFNY Cannes is an early season race. Over the course of the week, you will get quality time in the saddle and climbing practice on many beautiful and tranquil roads. You can expect to take on a variety of climbing every day. We will start the rides from Cannes each day and sometimes head along the coast and most often inland to explore the nature, foothills, forest, gorges and hillside villages of Var department and the Regional Nature Park of Préalpes d’Azur.

You'll be accompanied on your rides by experienced guides and coaches. During the camp, the group leaders will be available to help you with race strategy, descending and climbing technique, and nutrition advice.  This time spent planning for race day will pay off not just during competition, but afterwards as you apply this new knowledge to your cycling going forward.

You will be back from cycling in the early afternoon to also enjoy non-cycling tourism activities. GFNY Camp is meant to prepare you for race day, not wear you out. By race day, you will be comfortable with taking on climbs of variable steepness, and take part in group riding on flat sections and improve your condition to finish GFNY Cannes strong.

GFNY Cannes also has a post-race camp option, with 2-days of group riding before the race and 5 days after the race.

Travel Plan

You should plan to arrive in Cannes on Saturday (8 days out from race day). We kick off Camp Week with the Welcome Dinner on that Saturday. During the Welcome Dinner, we will all get to meet each other and also go through the plan for the week.

The cycling kicks off on Sunday (1 week before the race) and goes until Saturday (the day before the race). Meet up time is 9:30am daily at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes. You can get a coffee or use the restroom before we ride. We often take pre-ride group photos and videos. The daily briefing is at 9:45am. The departure is 10am.

For Day 1, we will ride easy on this day and stay together. We will use this day to gauge the speed of the group. For other days, we will split the groups by speed. There will be at least one support car with water, basic food and basic mechanical supplies following the ride daily.

Group leaders will speak French, English and Spanish.

Itinerary

Each evening, we send an email / WhatsApp message to all campers with exact schedule and itinerary for the cycling the next day. We tailor the daily routes to weather and to the group and provide shortened and extended options to those who want to take the day at their preference.

Note that you always have the option to take a day off or do your own ride if you want to.

Register before October 1 and pay 599 Euro instead of 800 Euro!
